Dr. Claudia Steinfels is the founder and manager of the Steinfels Art Consulting AG.

Dr. phil. Claudia Steinfels

Claudia Steinfels studied history of art, archaeology and non-European art at Zurich University. She earned her doctorate on the Swiss illustrator Herbert Leupin. During her studies she worked as curatorial assistant, in art education and public relations at the Kunsthaus Zurich. She also published reviews in the national and international press. From 1993 to 1995 she was head of the Art section of the Credit Suisse sponsoring department. Subsequently, she was named deputy director of the Lawrence Rubin Gallery in Zurich. From 1996 to 2000 she acted as General Manager at Christie’s Zurich and then acted as Sotheby’s Zurich executive director for eleven years. In 2003 Claudia Steinfels was promoted to Sotheby’s Senior Director Europe and headed the office’s bi-annual Swiss Art auctions. She is a board member of various international art funds and governing bodies and is an active member in committees and panels. She is a renowned specialist in Impressionism, Modern and Contemporary art.

Dr. phil. Gabrielle Obrist

Gabrielle Obrist directed her scientific research on the arts of the avant-garde in the 20th and 21st Centuries. Director of the Kunsthalle Wil/SG and a member of the art committee of the St. Gallen University, she has a unique knowledge of the local, national and international contemporary art scenes. After studies in history of art, German and East Asian art at Zurich University she worked as registrar at the historical monuments of the Canton of Thurgau. From 1994 to 2001 she headed the Johann Jacobs Museum, was a tutor for history of art, culture and design at various prestigious institutions and worked as curator, author and lecturer. Gabrielle Obrist is particularly interested in interdisciplinary research and in exploring complex interrelations and connections. A former expert for Old Master Paintings and Prints at Sotheby’s Zurich, she is experienced in the art market and in all matters regarding attribution, authentication and restauration.

lic. phil. Marie-Christine Iacopetta

Marie-Christine Iacopetta studied history of art and museology at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris. She has over 15 years of experience on the international art market. She worked as a Print Expert at Sotheby’s London, specializing in Old Master Prints. After moving to Switzerland, she became executive assistant at the Sotheby’s office in Zurich. She therefore masters all aspects of assessing, marketing and selling works of art. Aside from her current part-time position at the Steinfels Art Consulting she is a free-lance author working for an important Swiss corporate collection and De Gruyter editors.

Simone Hoerni

Simone Hoerni completed a bank apprenticeship and worked in this field in various departments in the cantons Aargau and Tessin. From 1995 to 2015 she was employed in the aviation industry. A Maître de Cabine and graduated instructor at Crossair, she subsequently worked in ground services, ticket and sale offices at Zurich airport. She was a lecturer at Horizon Swiss Flight Academy and concurrently completed a vocational accounting diploma. She then moved to the domain of executive business aviation and worked for the Federal Aviation Service LtdB. She was responsible for the global on-board catering and headed the smooth servicing of exclusive clients from business, politics and social backgrounds alike. After a degree in cultural management, she started working in the art world and gathered experience as curatorial assistant and registrar. Simone Hoerni has been personal assistant at the Steinfels Art Consulting AG since 2017.
